A lot of people use tea tree oil for things like acne and skin irritations, but can it help with dark circles and puffy eyes? We asked dermatologists to weigh in.

Many people also use tea tree oil to help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes and puffy eyes.

However, there is no scientific evidence to support this use of tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil is a popular natural remedy for acne. It may also help with other skin conditions, including dark circles and puffiness under the eyes.

Tea tree oil is an essential oil with many potential health benefits. The primary tea tree oil uses are for skin and hair. For example, people often use it to treat acne and dandruff. It is well-known for its powerful antiseptic properties and ability to treat wounds.

Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant, which is indigenous to Australia. People have used tea tree oil medicinally for centuries.

The main active ingredient in tea tree oil is terpinen-4-ol. This compound has been shown to kill certain bacteria and fungi that can cause infections in humans.

There's little scientific evidence available on the direct effect of tea tree oil on dark circles or puffy eyes, but there is some indication that it may help reduce swelling and improve blood circulation in this area of your face.

Tea tree oil is an essential oil derived from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia plant native to Australia. This plant was used by the Aborigines of Australia for centuries as a treatment for burns, sores, cuts, insect bites and even skin infections.

"It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can help treat acne," said Dr. Aanand Geria, a board-certified dermatologist at Geria Dermatology in New Jersey. "There are studies that show it has an effect on acne."

Geria said tea tree oil also has a drying effect on oily or greasy skin and hair.

In addition to treating acne, tea tree oil can help skin heal faster after cuts or other wounds due to its antibacterial effects, according to Dr. Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
